The health and safety of the families and the communities we serve is of the utmost importance to our funeral home. While we learn more daily about the COVID-19 virus, we find it necessary to do our part to protect our community and follow the evolving recommendations of the CDC and the State of Iowa. What should you do if a death has occurred? Our funeral home is here to help. Call us. We will take care of your loved one and your family. We will make arrangements by email, telephone or in person at our funeral home. Effective March 17 through March 31, 2020, we are under a State of Iowa Public Health Disaster Emergency. This means events of ten or more people are prohibited, according to the Governor of the State of Iowa. In accordance with these requirements we encourage families to meet privately in small groups at our funeral home. We have the capabilities to record private services or celebrations of life and post them to our funeral home website. Live streaming of services is also an option. Our funeral home will coordinate with your church and do everything possible to work within their guidelines. Hand sanitizer is readily available at our funeral homes and thorough cleaning of our facilities is continually taking place. For friends who have lost someone this can be an extremely tough time. What can you do? Telephone the family so they know they haven’t suffered this loss alone. Offer them words of support and virtual hugs. You can also post memories or thoughtful messages on the funeral home obituary page or you can send a card or flowers. These tokens of sympathy are beyond measure and will give the family the support they need to face the new day. We will continue to monitor CDC guidelines and communicate through our Facebook page and website (www.murdochfuneralhome.com). The health and safety of the families we serve, the public and our staff is paramount. Additional information regarding COVID-19 may be found at www.cdc.gov/covid19.
