Elizabeth “Beth” Ann (Klopping) Hutton, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Higley Mansion Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Good News Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids by Pastor Robert Pleiness. Inurnment: Center Friends Cemetery, Newton, Iowa.

Beth was born in Newton, Iowa, on October 3, 1932. She attended school in Jasper County and graduated high school in Vinton, Iowa. Beth attended one year of college at Wessington Springs in South Dakota. After graduation, she taught for four years in a country schoolhouse. Beth married Lawrence Joseph Bettmeng on January 22, 1956, and they had six children, Lawrence, Ronald, Donald, David, JoAnn and Marilyn. Her husband passed away May 3, 1962. Beth married Ralph Underwood in 1964 and they had two children, Beverly and Billy. They later divorced. Beth married Don Hutton on February 24, 1978. He passed away Dec 6, 1995. Beth worked as a housekeeper at Mercy Hospital for 22 years. After retirement Beth enjoyed traveling to visit family and new places. Her trip to Alaska was the trip of a lifetime. Beth spent over 20 years after retirement volunteering at Olivet Neighborhood Mission.

Beth leaves behind two sisters, Ruth (Bobby) Lewis of Topeka, Kansas and Carmen Klopping of Topeka, Kansas; three brothers, Loren Paul (Teresa) Klopping of Panama and Dean Klopping of Fresno, California and Richard Klopping of Cedar Rapids; six children, Lawrence Bettmeng of St. Claire, Missouri, Ronald (Sherri) Bettmeng of Cedar Rapids, JoAnn (Micheal) Schneekloth of Bennett, Iowa, Marilyn Bettmeng of Cedar Rapids, Billy (June) Underwood of Columbus, Ohio and Beverly (Harvey Weiss) Underwood of Vinton, Iowa; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A memorial fund has been established for Olivet Neighborhood Mission.
