Cody Lee Whittaker, 21, of 1115 16th Street, SW, Cedar Rapids, died April 17, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. William B. Harnish. The family will greet friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his mother, Cheri Whittaker; and friend, Tim Duffy; a brother, Dylan Whittaker of Cedar Rapids; aunts and uncles; Janet (Glen) Bender, Donna (Stan) Curtis, George (Jolene) Whittaker; many cousins; special friends, Cathy (Brad) Zimmerman of Cedar Rapids, Pam (Dick) Steinke of Cedar Rapids, Kevin Hart of Cedar Rapids and Nick and Danny; and many other special friends.
He was preceded in death by his Nanny; special friend, Jessie; and cousin, Molli.
Cody was born September 9, 1990 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Jefferson high school in 2010 and was a Senior at Transition Center. Cody worked for Quizno’s. His greatest joys were music and singing with bands, karaoke, Harley’s and he was a member of The ARC.
A Memorial Fund has been established in Cody’s name.
A Spaghetti Dinner and Fundraiser will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012, starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel in Cedar Rapids, sponsored by The Cedar Rapids Titans and The Clarion Hotel. Live music and celebration will follow.
