    Robert "Bob" Allen Murray

    March 19, 1937 - January 18, 2022

    Robert “Bob” Allen Murray, 84, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at his home. Family will greet friends and family from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Marion Methodist Church, in Marion, conducted by Pastor Mike Morgan, with a Masonic Service at the conclusion. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed at www.marionmethodist.org under “watch live” tab, starting at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Burial will take place at a later date at Blodgett Cemetery in Central City, Iowa. Bob was born on March 19, 1937, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Harold and Lavona (Baily) Murray. He was a graduate of Marion High School. Bob was united in marriage to Sharon A. Wilkinson on September 9, 1956, at the First United Methodist Church in Marion. He worked for Cherry Burrell and Evergreen Packaging, retiring in 1996. In retirement Bob worked for Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Zimmerman Ford, and Dave Wright Nissan. He was a member of the Trojan Masonic Lodge #548, El Kahir Shrine – Chanters, Foot Patrol, Mobile Nobles, and Marion Methodist Church. Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, riding motorcycles, playing cards, dancing, and singing. He especially loved spending time with his family. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Sharon Murray of Marion; three sons, Allen (Rhonda) Murray, Doug (Judy) Murray, and David (Teresa) Murray all of Marion; six grandchildren, Michael (Sara) Murray, Bradley (Cally) Murray, Amanda (Eddie) Rose, Steven (Jaimie) Murray, Scott (Amanda) Murray, and Kyle (Scott Bay) Murray; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lavona Murray; sister, Louise Jensen; and brother-in-law, John Clark. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob’s memory may be directed to the family. Memorials will be distributed to either the El Kahir Shrine transportation fund or to Marion Methodist Church.
