Agatha “Aggie” M. Fangmann, 90, of Manchester, died Friday, September 21, 2007, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood following a short illness.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester, with Rev. Jack Flaherty officiating. Family will greet friends from from 2-8 p.m. on Monday, with a Rosary at 2 p.m. and scripture service at 7 p.m. at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Friends may also call after 9:30 on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Aggie was born June 8, 1917 in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Henry & Rose (Funke) Ricken. Aggie received her education in county schools near her home and at the Worthington school. While living at home, she helped on the family farm. On January 16, 1943 Aggie was united in marriage to Leander “Lee” B. Fangmann at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington. The couple settled in Greeley, later moving to rural Dundee. In 1980, she and Lee retired to the town of Dundee, after farming for 38 years. In March of 2003, Aggie and Lee moved to Manchester.
Aggie was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester. She enjoyed oil painting, donating many of her painted craft items to area organizations to be used as raffle prizes.
Aggie is survived by her husband, Leander Fangmann of Edgewood; one son, David Lee (Vivian) Fangmann of New Vienna; one daughter, Del Rose Hentges (Dennis Haas) of Earlville; three grandchildren, Mike Fangmann, Sherry (Dave) Maiers and Lisa (Bryan) Kraus; four great-grandchildren, Travis, Matt, Tori and Tosha; and three step-grandchildren, Joe, Kendra and Chris Kraus.
Aggie was preceded by her parents, Henry & Rose Ricken; her brothers, Bernard, Philip, Anthony, Joe, and John “Jack” Ricken; her sisters, Regina Westendorf, Leonette Ricken, Mayme Menke, Sally Wieferich, Betty Boge, Clara Ricken, and Teckla Fangman; and a son-in-law, Mike Hentges.
