Agnes Okken, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, rose to be with Jesus Christ on Easter morning Sunday, April 16, 2017, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Services: 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at the Spirit of Faith Family Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Jay Eberly. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Georgeann Enos, Patricia Haley (Michael), Michael Okken, Orville D. Okken (Kathryn), Orin Okken and Todd Okken (Carol); grandchildren, Jennifer Rothwell (Trevis), Cory Okken (Jill), Dusty Okken (Kelly), Carly Okken (Nick) and Patrick Haley; and great-grandchildren, Kadence, Kiernan and Harrison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Vopalka; brothers, A. Mike Vopalka and Godfrey Vopalka; and grandson, Bruce Enos, Jr.
Agnes was born January 22, 1933, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Pospisil) Vopalka, in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed boating, cookouts and family get-togethers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Agnes was a member of the Spirit of Faith Family Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Humane Society or Ike Akabogu Ministries in memory of Agnes.
