Albert "Bob? Rompot, 61, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, in the Mountain Home Hospital of cardiac complications. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Lisa (Tom) Thompson of Monticello, Iowa; his grandchildren, Rachelle and DeChone Jackson of Monticello; his mother, Sadie Rompot of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Vernon Rompot Jr. of Denver, Colorado and Randy (Margie) Rompot of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Sue Mihal (Clyde Melvin) of Cedar Rapids; one niece; five nephews; and the Spencer family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Sr.; and his sister, Lori Ann.

Bob was born April 30, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, to Vernon and Sadie (Sturm) Rompot. He graduated from Washington High School. On January 23, 1965, he married Barbara Spencer. He worked for Allis Chalmers, FMC, Options of Linn County, and the Sheriff?s department of Baxter County. He enjoyed designing and building homes and renovating old homes as a hobby. He was a vocational trainer for the mentally disadvantaged. He enjoyed volunteering and was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award for the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) in 1987. Bob also volunteered for the Hospice of the Ozarks and Christmas Wish.

Friends are invited to an open house at the Spencer place, 2775 C Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa following the service.

A memorial fund has been established in Bob's memory.
