Alice Jean Bandy, 92, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2019, Bohnenkamp – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. Graveside Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Campton Cemetery, Dundee, Iowa.
Alice Jean Bandy was born June 26, 1926, the daughter of Henry Arthur and Ida Marie (Lewis) Gibbs. She graduated from Dundee High School in 1945, and helped her parents at home until her marriage. On April 4, 1950, Alice married William “Johnny” Bandy at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they farmed near Dundee. Johnny died on October 18, 1970. Alice Jean then moved to Manchester where she worked at the Good Neighbor Home as housekeeping supervisor for 16 years. In 1989 she began working for West Delaware Schools and cleaned the kindergarten building until her retirement in 1998.
Alice Jean was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee. She enjoyed working outside with her flowers, collecting magnets and cookbooks, and especially spending time with grandchildren.
Survivors include her three children, Jim Bandy (Joanne Hansel) of Dundee, Joyce (David) Becker of Dundee, and Royce (Donna) Bandy of Manchester; 9 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; a brother, Burdette (Wanda) Gibbs of Edgewood, and a sister-in-law, Hilda Gibbs of Manchester.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; daughter-in-law, Carol Bandy; brothers, Burl Gibbs and LaVerne Gibbs; and grandson-in-law, Jerry Hannan.
