Alice I. Knipper, 81, of Earlville, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, April 4, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, following a short illness.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Earlville with Rev. Herbert Tegeler officiating. Friends may call from 1-8 pm Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville. A St. Joseph?s Guild Rosary service will begin at 2:30 and Parish Scripture service at 4:30. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Alice was born on February 14, 1925 the daughter of Gregor and Alvina (Bockenstedt) Lammers in Petersburg. On May 21, 1946, Alice was united in marriage to Laverne F. Knipper at St. Peter and Paul?s Catholic Church in Petersburg. The couple farmed in the Earlville and Petersburg area. They retired in 1984 and moved into Earlville.
Alice was a member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Earlville where she belonged to St. Joseph?s Guild. She loved to crochet, quilt and embroider. Alice enjoyed playing cards and belonged to card and coffee clubs.
Alice is survived by nine children, James (Bonnie) Knipper of Earlville, Dennis (Janice) Knipper of Greeley, Gene (Mary Pat) Knipper of Dyersville, Dianne (David) Kluesner of Luxemburg, Kenneth (Shirley) Knipper of Earlville, Marilyn (Daniel) Friedmann of New Vienna, Steven (Vickie) Knipper of Dyersville, Robert (Patti) Knipper of Thousand Oaks, CA and Ruth (Peter) Bockenstedt of New Vienna; 30 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lavern (Karen) Lammers of Colesburg and Irvin (Eloise) Lammers of Guttenberg; 4 sisters, her twin, Abbie Morman, Gladys Lake and Carol Ann (Lester) Simons, all of Colesburg and Vanita (Ralph) Knipper of Delhi; a sister-in-law, Peggy Digmann of Dyersville and Kathleen (Laverne) Osterhaus of Petersburg; brother-in-laws, Gilbert Knipper of New Vienna, Joe (Julia) Knipper of Kansas City, MO, Walter (Charlotte) Knipper of Dyersville and Rick (Jane) Knipper of North Liberty.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Laverne Knipper in 1992; her parents, Gregory & Alvina Lammers; brother, Donald Lammers; sister, Mildred Helle; and a great-granddaughter, Karli Rose Hoeger.
