Alice Marie Soppe

Alice Marie Soppe, 88, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2026, with Scripture Service beginning at 3:00 p.m., at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home in Manchester. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester with an additional visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the church, with the Reverend Noah Diehm officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.

Alice was born on December 15, 1937, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Martin and Laurien (Bergfeld) Sandman. She graduated from Manchester High School. Alice married Robert “Bob” Soppe on September 3, 1958, in Manchester, Iowa, and together they were blessed with six children. She worked for Swift & Swift Law Firm, Gosling & Company, and in the office at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Alice was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a woman of deep faith who was always prayerful for others. She cherished spending time with her family, especially playing cards and games and attending all of their events. Alice also enjoyed Wednesday coffee with her sister, Dianne, and could talk with just about anyone. Her warm personality and genuine interest in others made her a friend to many. Alice will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Alice is survived by her children, John (Denise) Soppe, Julie (Don) Pasker, Jim (Karen) Soppe, all of Manchester, Jody (Mike) Ries of Ryan, Jeff (Stacy) of New Berlin, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Sarah (Rob) DeMarte, Michelle (Tyler) Alexander, Jacob (Shannon) Swift, and Matt (Liz) Swift; Beth (Josh) Zuck, Garrett (Shari) Soppe, Margo (Scott) Welsh, Nicole (Tim) Smith, Pat (Kiera) Soppe, Ryan (Leslie) Soppe, and Trevor Soppe; Zach (Samantha) Pasker and Allison (Kolby) Harms; Josh Soppe, Paige (Nick) Weber, and Gavin (Ava) Soppe; Phillip Ries, Andrew Ries, and Kate Ries; Eli Soppe and Aidan Soppe; 28 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Mark Swift of Marengo; sister, Dianne Foust of Manchester, and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Sandman of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Laurien Sandman; husband, Bob Soppe; daughter, Jayne Swift; brother, Paul Sandman; and her brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Foust.
