“Tony” D. Holub, 44, a lifelong resident of rural Center Point, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008, in Resurrection Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois, following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Urbana, by Father David Ambrosy. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, December 28, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Greens Grove Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include wife, Cheryl; mother, Mary (Bill) Schipper of Delhi; father, Virgil (Janie) Holub of Swisher; son, Matt Holub of Center Point; brother, Thomas (Marci) Holub of Solon and sisters, Terri (Kenny) Jones of Walker and Traci (Steve) Warren of Arvada, Colorado; mother and father-in-law, Jack and Eva Jane Hoglan of Independence, Iowa; five nieces and nephews; many close relatives; and three special four legged friends, Katie, How-we and Sandy.
On September 27, 1964, Tony was born in Cedar Rapids, the son of Virgil Holub and Mary (Mathews) Schipper. Tony graduated from Center Point High School in 1983.Tony was united in marriage to Cheryl Hoglan at sea on September 9, 2007. He was a farmer who loved the rural life, working outdoors, farming, hunting and traveling with his wife.
Tony especially enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was always available and often called upon to help family, friends and neighbors. Tony had a wonderful laugh and used it often.
A memorial fund has been established in Tony’s memory.
