Ardean C. Fitzsimmons, 78, a resident of Living Center West, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died there Wednesday, September 17, 2008, following a long battle with cancer. A private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Cher (Ken) Brown, Shelly Christopherson and Mitch, Kevin Fitzsimmons and Ruth Aue, Bob Fitzsimmons and Shawn Engbretson and Diana (Tim) Fitzsimmons-Meier all of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Ardean was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Fitzsimmons; his parents; and a brother, Adrian Fitzsimmons.
Ardean was born July 30, 1930, in Riverside, Iowa, the son of Harold and Dorothy (Dautremont) Fitzsimmons. He married Edna Mae Swick. They later divorced. Ardean was a union welder.
Ardean enjoyed fishing and was a master at B.S.
