Arlan “Arlie” James Henderson, 76, of Masonville, Iowa, was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, December 27, 2025, after a short illness at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Funeral Service will take place at 10:30 Monday, January 5, 2026, with additional visitation one hour prior to service at Manchester Methodist Church in Manchester with the Reverend Phil Rogers officiating. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Masonville.
Arlan was born on February 23, 1949, in Bloomington, Illinois, the son of Donald J. and Mabel (Morgan) Henderson. He joined two older sisters, Marlene and Cheryl; and one brother, Wayne, all at home. Arlan graduated from West Delaware High School with the class of 1967 and then attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. Arlan then worked at Hide Services in Manchester, until it closed. He then drove semi for Paris & Sons Trucking until his death. Arlan was a faithful member of Manchester Methodist Church. He was an avid coin collector, enjoyed his cats naming each one. Arlan had Sunday breakfast at Sunset Restaurant with his friends, Larry and Carol and Vi, traveling seeing as much of the United States and other international areas. He appreciated spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by all those who knew him.
Arlan is survived by his sister, Cheryl Husmann- (Francis) Ries of Hopkinton; her children, Kyla (Jeff) Lenz of Ankeny, Iowa, Janelle (Kyle) Walton of Edelstein, Illinois, Brent (Jazz) Husmann of Hopkinton; Marlene’s children, Malynda (Jeff) Stegman, Lavern Noggle, LeRay Noggle, Lyndon (Donna) Noggle, Machele Noggle, Marla (Pete) Prentice, all from Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Wayne’s son, Wayde (Kathy) Henderson of Conway, Arkansas; and many great-nieces and nephews; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mabel Henderson; sister, Marlene (Lowell) Noggle; nephew, Lawrence Noggle; brother, Wayne (Lennie) Henderson; nephew, Scott Henderson; and his brother-in-law, Paul Husmann.
Arlan leaves behind special friends and family to cherish his memory especially, John, Leo and Kay, Bill and Mary, Rich and Shirley, Al and Shirley, Bob and Becky, Joe and Linda, Tom and Deb, and Florence.
