Arnold “Arnie” Ralph Kula, 68, of Anamosa, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. A graveside service for the family took place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Prairieburg, Iowa, with Reverend Dennis Miller officiating. Next month, the Kula family will greet friends and family at a Celebration of Arnie’s life, which will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday July 19, 2026, at the Wapsi American Legion Post 421 Hall, located at 6 Central City Road in Central City, Iowa.
Arnie was born on January 4, 1958, in Monticello, Iowa, the youngest of eleven children to Rudolph “Ralph” V. and Geraldine M. (Barnes) Kula. He was a 1976 graduate of Central City High School. On June 9, 2003, Arnie was united in marriage to Linda Ann (Lincoln) Clark in Monticello.
Arnie began his career as a Supervisor at various nuclear power plants in the field before working for the Leer Corporation in Iowa City, Iowa. Most recently, he worked for Square D in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prairieburg. Arnie had a heart for Veterans and dedicated a large part of his life to the Sons of AMVETS, of which he served as Commander for 18 years. He was an avid coin collector, trading coins, and always on the hunt for misprinted coins. Most of all, spending time with his family was his greatest joy. Arnie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Arnie is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 22 years, Linda Kula; four daughters, April Kula, Amber (P.J.) Hoyt, Sheri (Ed) Holub, and Rayna (Mike) Labine; seven grandchildren, Bailey Holub, Sydney Holub, Alivia Hoyt, Abbigail Hoyt, Kai Labine, Tyler Labine, and Clarence “C.J.” Hoyt; siblings, Eugene Kula, Kenneth (Judy) Kula, Margaret Grassfield, Karen Bulman, Sharen Dolan, Gary (Loraine) Kula, Joanne (Chuck) Madison, and LaVerne (Veriah) Kula; brother-in-law, Allan Haley; and a host of extended family members, including numerous nieces, nephews, and many in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Roberta Haley; one brother, Ronald Kula; one sister-in-law, Colleen Kula; and three brothers-in-law, Darrel Grassfield, John Bulman and Dennis Dolan.
