Arthur Funk
December 22, 1930 — May 28, 2006
Arthur Funk, 75, of 460 Morris Drive, Marion, died at his home Sunday, May 28, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Per Arthur?s wishes, his body was cremated and will be buried in Ottumwa, Iowa, at a later date. Art attended Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids and a memorial service will be held there at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006, with Pastor Jay Jentink officiating. The family will greet friends following services at the church. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Art leaves his wife, Wilma; two children, Ellen Harris and Nancy Funk; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Art married Wilma Brewer in 1949 and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1973. He was a foreman at John Morrell in Ottumwa, Iowa, before moving to Cedar Rapids, where he held a similar position at Wilson Foods. He worked at Globe Machinery, Mercy Medical Center and took early retirement in 1998 from Baker?s Manufacturing Co. due to ill health. He then became a "house husband? while his wife worked, but retired from the "job? after being introduced to senior bowling. Art loved to bowl and made many lasting friendships.
In lieu of flowers, you may give to Mercy Hospice or Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids for their camp improvement.
