Arthur Dale Young
January 26, 1920 — April 9, 2006
Arthur Dale Young, 86, 1650 Koehler Dr. NW, of the Methwick Community, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Jack Kendall. The family will greet friends from 11:00 until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Inurnment: Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Ottumwa, Iowa, at a later date.
Survivors include his wife Mildred; two sons, James Young and wife Deborah of St. Charles, Missouri, and Dennis Young and friend Cindy Watts of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin; three grandsons; five granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; four stepdaughters; six stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchldren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Doris; three sisters; and two brothers.
Arthur was born January 26, 1920, the son of Charles and Tressie (Carter) Young, in Wapello County, Iowa. He served with the United States Army during World War II. On June 6, 1942, Arthur married Doris Foster. She died October 6, 1988. He married Mildred Nichols in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on June 10, 1989. Arthur retired in 1981 after 41 years of service from Harper & McIntire Company. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Gideons International.
