Aubrey D. McShane, 101, of Springville, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Anamosa Care Center. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial: Springville Cemetery, Springville.
Aubrey was born November 15, 1916, in Linn County, Iowa, the son of Porter and Alma (Bolton) McShane. He graduated from Springville High School in 1935. Aubrey married Lorean Spacek in May, 1943, in Keithsburg, Illinois. He was a lifelong Linn County farmer. Aubrey was very proud of continuing the family tradition of farming. He was also known to be opinionated in his political views.
He is survived by his wife, Lorean of Anamosa; son, Steven (Gladys) McShane of Springville; daughters, Laura (Gary) Hendrickson of Blair, Nebraska and Evelyn (Harry) Hart of Milan, Illinois; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Aubrey was preceded in death by his infant daughter; grandson; siblings, Cecil, Lorenna, Howard, Marion, Maxine and Orville.
Memorials in Aubrey’s memory may be directed to the Springville Alumni Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
