Bernadette “Bernie” Parcel, 72, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, was called home on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, after a short home hospice stay related to kidney failure. Services: 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2015, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Charles; daughters, Susan (Dan) Hester, Jennifer Parcel and Patti Parcel all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister, Teresa (Bill) Crockett of Stone Park, Illinois; two granddaughters; four grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James and Paul; sister, Linda Panos; daughter, Charlene Uphouse; and one grandson.
Bernie was born July 31, 1942, daughter of Paul and Lottie Fuse. She married Charles Parcel on June 20, 1964. Bernie had a love of life. She enjoyed many activities such as camping, baking, cooking, gardening and swimming to name a few. Every Sunday she would request a song to be played for someone on the Sunday Morning Polka Show, a program she never missed.
