Bernice Lee Nehring, 95, formerly of Walker, died Saturday, September 1, 2007, in Linn Manor Care Center, Marion, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point, by Grant Hagen. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial: Walker Cemetery, Walker, Iowa.
Survivors include a son, Thomas (Marlene) Torrey of Marion; a daughter, Bernetta “Bunny” (Bill) Hopkins of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto; a daughter, Charlotte; and a granddaughter, Tammy.
Born May 1, 1912, in Trenton, Missouri, the daughter of Howard and Grace Snidow Rose, she married Otto Nehring in St. Louis, Missouri in 1945. He died in 1979. Bernice and her husband were owners and operators of the Town Tavern in Walker for thirty plus years. She was a fan of music and dancing. She blessed us all with her generous spirit and sense of humor.
