Bernice E. (Rotter) Svoboda (Glick)

Bernice E. (Rotter) Svoboda, 92, of Silver Pines Assisted Living Community, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following complications of a stroke. Services: 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Wil Jackson. The family will greet friends from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial: Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City, Iowa.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Rotter and special friend Larry Carl of Atkins; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; children, daughter, Beverly Lauf; son, Raymond Rotter; granddaughter, Bonnie Thompson; sister, Helen Loken; brothers, Elmer Glick, Harold Glick, Louis Glick and Robert Glick.
Bernice was born August 1, 1914, in Arlington, Iowa, the daughter of George and Ida (Wieneke) Glick. On March 28, 1934, she married Elmer Rotter in Marengo, Iowa. He died July 25, 1967. On November 11, 1978, she married Wesley Svoboda in Cedar Rapids. He died January 15, 1994. She made neck ties for the Amana Woolen Mills.
Bernice was a member of Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church. She helped at the Salvation Army and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts and embroidery.
