Bernita M. Ferguson, 77, of Urbana, Iowa, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006, at United Methodist Church, Urbana, by the Rev. Leo Anderson. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.
Survivors include her children, Susan (Brian) Kramer of Center Point, Colleen (David) Giebler of Hiawatha and Connie (Michael) Waltermyer of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, her twin, Bernice (Claire) Bowers of Cedar Rapids and Mardena Randall, Deming, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bonnie Saldavar; and her husband, Raymond.
Bernita was born May 16, 1928, the daughter of Glenn and Genevieve (Folkins) Sanborn, in Spring Grove Township, Linn County, Iowa. On December 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Raymond Dell Ferguson. He died January 6, 2004.
Bernita was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and various clubs over the years. She contributed to the Urbana History and wrote local news for the Cedar Valley Times and the Linn Newsletter. Bernita enjoyed decorating cakes for many special occasions.
