Betty Florence Pettlon, 91, of Delhi, died Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, at Clifton Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, where family will greet friends from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Burial will be Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi.
Betty is survived by a nephew, Mick (Sharon) Jones; special friends, Joe Keith, Tom & Diane Gatto, Dan & Sheran Gatto, Ray Reth, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert in 1993; her parents; and a brother, Forrest Jones.
Betty was born September 21, 1923, in Delhi, Iowa the daughter of John and Gladys (Duart) Jones. Betty was raised in Delhi and was a 1941 graduate of Delhi High School. Betty married Gilbert “Gib” Pettlon on January 8, 1943, in Delhi. They were lifelong sweethearts and were raised only two miles apart. The two began going together at sixteen. Betty was a homemaker and also worked as a librarian for a few years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Delhi Public Library in Betty’s memory.
