Beverly “Bev” Lynn Carnahan, 81, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Hope Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial will immediately follow the service at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Bev was born May 19, 1943, to Fred and Viola (Dyson) Krumm, where she was raised alongside her four siblings. From a young age, Bev’s nurturing spirit and joyful personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
On September 3rd, 1960, she married the love of her life, Frank “Bud” Carnahan. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three children: Crystal, Carey, and Lynnette. Bev’s greatest joy was her family, and she poured her heart into being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Bev had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures – shopping, planting flowers in her backyard garden, and dancing the night away at the Elk’s Lodge and VFW, and spending time with her beloved dogs and cats. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter and unconditional love.
She worked as a lunch lady at Cedar Rapids Prairie High School for 12 years, where she was truly cherished by students and staff. Her vibrant energy, warm smile, and famously beloved salad bar made her a favorite in the cafeteria. Students often raved about her meals and looked forward to seeing her each day.
She was a proud grandmother to Jesse, Justin (Melissa) Clark, Austen (Nicole) Carnahan, Alivea (Cody) Wagner, Emma, Haley, and Samuel Descourouez, and found joy being a great-grandmother to five.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents; cherished daughter, Carey, son-in-law, Shane Burlingame; and son-in-law, Tom Clark.
Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her loving spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Suncrest Hospice for their loving care of Bev.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to a local animal shelter in Bev’s honor or Hope Lutheran Church.
