Bonny Kayser

Bonny Kayser, 88, of Walker, Iowa, died Friday, September 18, 2026. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point, Iowa. Memorial Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker. Inurnment will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Walker.

Bonny was born December 18, 1937, in Edgewood, Iowa, the daughter of Leigh and Beulah (Morley) Rizer. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1956. Following graduation, Bonny worked for the Kacena Company in Cedar Rapids. On September 28, 1960, she married David John Kayser at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker. In 1968, Bonny began working as the school secretary at North Linn’s Walker Elementary School, where she remained until her retirement in 1998. She jokingly liked to say that she “ran the place!”

Bonny and David were longtime residents of Walker before moving to Center Point Heights Assisted Living in 2024. She treasured the life they shared and especially enjoyed the many vacations and adventures they took together throughout the years. Bonny remained by David’s side until his death in 2024.

Bonny was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was part of the R.A.R.E. Club in Walker. An avid reader, Bonny enjoyed participating in book club. She also loved bowling and golfing and participated in leagues for both. In her spare time, she enjoyed ceramics, listening to country music, and gathering with family. Bonny also had a sweet tooth, with ice cream and chocolate shakes among her favorites.

Bonny is survived by her sons, Doug Kayser (Tina Sherman) of Robins, Iowa, Tim Kayser of Cedar Rapids, and Scott (Roberta) Kayser of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Karissa (Sam) Kreassig, Chelsea (Zach) Barry, Tara (Chris) Hettinger, Courtney Kayser (Brandon Griffis), Drew Kayser, Ashley Kayser (Lucas Johnson) , and Allison (Jolene) Wolf; eight great-grandsons; and her sisters, Betty Sheffert of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and Berna (Lyle) Strathman of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Kayser; her parents, Leigh and Beulah Rizer; and her sister, Beverly Sprague.
