Brett Harold Varo, 31, of 40 33rd Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, December 15, 2005, at University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, Iowa City, following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2005, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Tom McDermott. The family will greet friends from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a Vigil service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his parents, Cleamour and Sharon Varo of Cedar Rapids; four brothers, Christopher (Julie) Varo of Iowa City, Michael (Kim) Varo of Cedar Rapids, Scott (Allana) Varo of Belle Plaine and Adam Varo of Iowa City; his nephews, Tyler, Brandt, Kaden; his nieces, Ashley, Sydney, Haley, Carly, Mackenzie, Lauryn and Sage; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cleamour and Mary Varo and Harold and Anna Brockway.
Brett was born June 18, 1974, the son of Cleamour Varo and Sharon Brockway, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A 1993 Jefferson High School graduate, he worked as a security guard. Brett was a lifelong member of St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Brett was a special uncle to his nephews and nieces and a true friend who was willing to help anyone in need. He especially looked forward to hunting with his dad, brothers and friends.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Brett.
