Bruce Lee Moe, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Hallmark Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Visitation: 2 – 5 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Graveside Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2026, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the graveside service.
Bruce was born on November 10, 1938, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the son of Morton and Clara (Brue) Moe. He graduated from Rock Rapids High School. He received his Bachelor of Science & Arts degree from Luther College and his Master’s degree from The University of Iowa. On August 8, 1964, Bruce was united in marriage to Patricia Hartman. Bruce worked as a teacher for the Davenport Community School District for 38 years as well as The Tipton Community School District and part-time at JCPenney. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of Victory Church. Bruce was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He loved to travel with his wife to visit different lighthouses across the United States. After retiring from the Davenport Community School District, he spent his mornings mall walking 5 miles a day with other retirees. Bruce and Pat also enjoyed their fellowship at Sunday morning breakfast after church with their friend group. Bruce will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his daughter, Anne Moe of Winfield, Missouri and her children, Logan Anthony of Winfield and Trevor Anthony (Annika Owens) of Pella, Iowa; daughter, Cathy (Jason) Lopez and their children, Jake and Alex Lopez, all of Cedar Rapids; brother, Steve (Carolyn) Moe of Gladbrook, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Joseph “Pep” and Robert Hartman, both of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 52 years, Pat.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids and Hallmark Care Center in Mt. Vernon for their kind and compassionate care of our dad during his time with them.
