Carl R. Arnold, 88, a resident of Living Center West, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Walker, Iowa, died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Friday, April 22, 2011. Services: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker, by the Rev. Jamie Wolfe. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 25, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial: Quasqueton Cemetery, Quasqueton, Iowa.
Survivors include his special friend, Ruth Starling of Cedar Rapids; cousins, Ernie (Carol) Zimpfer of Walker and Marjory Bloom-Hall of Cedar Rapids; and numerous second Cousins.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James Arnold.
Born February 17, 1923, in Walker, Iowa, Carl was the son of Emery and Mable (Zimpfer) Arnold. He served in the U.S. military in the SeaBees in Guam. He worked as a farmer.
He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Walker American Legion Post #376. Carl enjoyed raising tomatoes and selling them and hunting and fishing with Ruth, his fishing partner.
The family wishes to thank Living Center West and St. Luke’s Hospice for the loving care they gave Carl.
