Carmen Smith, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center. Private Family Memorial Services will be held. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include four children, James (Sheryl) Smith, Montague, Michigan, Jenny (Kevin Paulsen) Smith, Cedar Rapids, Jacquelyn Helgens, Anamosa and Leo Smith, Jr. of Clarinda; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, David Primrose of Nebraska; and special friend, Marlene Dochterman, Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and son-in-law, Dean Helgens.
Carmen was born October 7, 1936, the daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth (Staple) Primrose, in Atkins, Iowa. A graduate from Atkins High School, Carmen was a homemaker.
