Carol Anderson

Carol Jean Anderson, 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, Iowa, with a visitation beginning one hour prior. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City, Iowa.

Carol was born on August 12, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Grace (Rees) Hinds. She was a 1950 graduate of Northwood High School. On July 26, 1950, Carol was united in marriage to Orlan Handeland in Lamont, Iowa, and together, they had two sons. He later passed away in 1978. Carol was then united in marriage to Gerald Anderson in 1979 and he preceded her in death. Carol dedicated her career for over 25 years to the GTE Telephone Company, working as a supervisor, until her retirement. Carol will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carol is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Eugene (Laura) Handeland of Warsaw, Missouri, and Wayne (Angie) Handeland of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Rachel Handeland, Holly (Ryan) Kardell, Scott (Beth) Handeland, Samantha (Wayland) Edwards, Taylor Handeland, and Madison Handeland; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Orlan Handeland; second husband, Gerald Anderson; five brothers, Claude, Pat, Skinny, Lefty, and Hubert; and four sisters, Hazel, Maxine, Alice, and Muggs.
