Carol Rosemary Perrin, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Heritage Specialty Care Center in Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2210 Grand Avenue, Marion. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday at the church, with Rev. John Albertson presiding. Burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery, 520 Wilson Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Carol was born June 7, 1950, in Janesville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Grant and Roberta Elinor (Wisely) Perrin. Carol spent her early years in Janesville and moved to Marion in her early teens. She attended Marion High School, moved on to Kirkwood Community College, and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Mt. Mercy College.
Carol worked for many years at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Her faith was a great comfort to her in life, and Carol was an active member of three local Lutheran congregations over the years: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Faith Lutheran Church, and Ascension Lutheran Church, all in Marion. Carol was a faithful participant in the annual Linn County CROP Walk for more than a decade. She loved cats and dogs, Dr. Pepper, and watching Star Trek.
One of her great joys in life was the love of blues music that Carol shared with her brother, Willard. Over the years, they spent many weekends traveling to and attending blues festivals throughout the Midwest. Carol shared the family home with her brother and friend, Willard, for many years until a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease required her to move, first into Evergreen Estates, and eventually into memory care at Heritage.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Gwen (Charles) Becker and Ruth (Bob) Sortor; and her brother, Steve (Kathy) Perrin. She is survived by her brother, Willard Perrin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her special friends, Janice Schoon, Lori Law, and Linda Livingston, loved Carol and will miss her dearly.
Memorials may be directed to Ascension Lutheran Church, 2210 Grand Avenue, Marion, Iowa 52302.
