Carole Joyce Tuchel

Carole Tuchel passed away at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on September 16, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Carole graduated from Waukon High School in 1959 and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1959, where she worked at Collins Radio. She met and married Gunter Karl Tuchel on Dec. 29, 1962.

Carole and her husband Gunter enjoyed boating and traveling in their motor home. After her husband's retirement, they traveled all over the countryside with their motor home and enjoyed it so much. Carole volunteered at Mercy Hospital for many years and enjoyed meeting new people.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lisa Van Waart (Douglas) of Anamosa, Iowa, and Dr. Tammy Tuchel Williamson (Rodney) of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; one stepdaughter, Claudia Mann (Keith) of Fleming, Colorado; one granddaughter, Trinity Williamson of Florida; five step-grandchildren, Kade and Khy Rigel, Kiarra (Jared) Swenson, Keegan and Kobryn Mann; and two step-great-grandchildren, Braxton and Ryder Rigel.

Carole is preceded in death by her husband, Gunter, and her parents, Otto and Dorthea Schuttemeier.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church or Hospice of Mercy.
