Caroline Lopez, 68, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, September 6, 2010, at home. Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2010, at the Open Bible Church in Cedar Rapids by Pastor Dan Sanford and Pastor Charles Stevens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include three children, Laura Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Linda (Jim) Lehman of Moline, Illinois, and Leo (Jolene) Johnson of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Luci Heslop of Cedar Rapids and Josephine Delbridge of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Leo Lopez of California and Gilbert Saldana of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Elisha Meade, Ericka Johnson, Andrea Johnson, Bailey Gienapp and Jesse Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Julian Garcia, Ayonna Johnson, and Elysionna Westerfield; and longtime friend, Wanda Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Eddie Saldana; and a brother-in-law, Jack Delbridge.
Caroline was born April 9, 1942, the daughter of John and Rafaela (Juarez) Lopez. She attended McKinley & Washington High Schools. Caroline worked at Wilson Foods until 1969 when she became a stay at home mother. She attended Kirkwood Community College and became a Medical Assistant. Caroline worked for Internist’s PC, then Amana Refrigeration, and later for APEC. She retired in 1997 for medical reasons.
Caroline was a 40 year member of the Open Bible Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher. She volunteered at church. Caroline read her Bible daily.
