Carolyn Joyce Holveck

Carolyn Joyce Holveck, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. with services following at 11:00 a.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home in Center Point, Iowa. Burial will follow at Center Point Cemetery in Center Point, Iowa.

Carolyn was born in Cedar Rapids to Forrest and Mardean Holveck. She attended Washington High School and received her teaching certificate from Drake University. She spent her entire career in the Cedar Rapids school system, beginning at Garfield Elementary School, then moving to Taft Middle School, and later to Truman Elementary School, where she taught until retiring in 2006. She was a proud teacher, and the impact she had on her students was one of her greatest joys in life.

She loved books of all kinds, from romance to suspense. She also had a well-known sweet tooth and often set candy out on the table outside her apartment for neighbors to enjoy. She adored her blue 1969 Chevrolet Camaro and was almost always wearing something purple. She decorated for every holiday and rarely missed a chance to watch sports, especially games featuring the New England Patriots or the Utah Jazz. Her life centered on her family and on being a light to those around her. She was generous with what she had and always found humor in everyday moments.

Carolyn is survived by brother, Randy Holveck; nephews, Robert (Elizabeth) Holveck, James (Laura) Holveck; great-nephew, Forrest, great-niece, Dorris; great-nephews, William and Theodore; sister-in-law, Jacki DaBoll; and good friend Sally Kelly.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Michael Holveck; sister-in-law, Jane Holveck.
