Carolyn Mary Myers, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, January 22, 2022, at her home. A visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids; a luncheon will be held at the church after Mass. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Carolyn was born May 6, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of George and Mary (Roman) Kofron. She went to St. Ludmila School, Wilson School, and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960. After graduation, Carolyn went to work for Link-Belt Speeder. In 1961, she got engaged to her high school sweetheart, Gary Myers, and got married on September 22, 1962, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church; the couple did a lot of traveling together west of the Mississippi. In 1966, their first son, Rod, was born and Carolyn became a stay-at-home mom. In 1976, their second son, Jonathan, was born. Carolyn liked to collect glassware, and visit garage sales, flea markets, and antique sales. She loved to have fun with her two sons and grandkids. In 2004 Gary and Carolyn bought a 1971 Mustang Mach 1 and started going to car shows until she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Gary Myers; two sons, Rodney Myers and Jonathan (Renae) Myers; and grandchildren, Lane, Gabrielle, and Kyle Myers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Kofron; and sister, Joyce Gerleman.
