Catherine Ann Baldauf Scholl, 71, 95 Simpson St. SW, died Monday at her home following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004 at St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call 5-8 Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, with a rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a vigil for the deceased at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial: St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids

Survivors include six children, Julie (Jeff) Engelmann of Norfolk, Neb.; James (Lisa) Scholl, Jeanne Scholl, Ann Scholl (Ken) Rinehart, and Susan Ayers, all of Cedar Rapids; and Karen (Johnny) DeMoor of Lebanon, Tenn; 12 grandchildren - Heidi, Ashley, Alex, and Allison Scholl, Sharaya Korsmo, Keegan and Jess Boyer, and Joshua, Wesley and Cara Ayers, all of Cedar Rapids; and Elise and John DeMoor of Lebanon, Tenn; a brother, William (Margaret) Baldauf of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; a sister Dorothy (Jack) Brady of Greenville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Marie Mueller; and two infant siblings.

Catherine was born Nov. 9, 1932, at Memphis, Tenn., to Amelia Lorraine Grimmig Baldauf and William Anthony Baldauf. She married Robert Paul Scholl at Memphis on April 23, 1960. They divorced in 1992.

She attended St. Agnes Academy at Memphis, graduating in 1950. Catherine earned her bachelor?s degree in medical technology from Sienna College at Memphis in 1954. The program was through Sienna College and St. Joseph Hospital School of Medical Technology. Catherine was president of student government at Sienna and also served as treasurer and vice president. She worked as a medical technologist for Dr. E.C. Segerson of Memphis for five years before moving to Iowa after her marriage.

She raised six children and periodically worked at her former husband?s optometric practice. In her later years, she was a professional crafter and a charter member of Creative Colony at Amana. She was a member of St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church.

Catherine was an unselfish woman who loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. Prior to her death, she said, "My greatest accomplishments are my children; my greatest loves are my grandchildren.? Catherine loved fabric and sewed beautifully. She was known for the fabric angels and sheep she made and sold at Creative Colony as well as at craft shows.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
