Charles W. Wenger, 57, of Ryan, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, from complications of a heart attack. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church, Ryan, by Pastor Timothy Miller. The family will greet friends 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Central City and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial: Blodgett Cemetery, Central City, at a later date.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; mother, Marie; daughters, Laura (Andrew Rommann) Wenger, and Lisa (Roy) Foster; step-children, Jennifer (Jeremy) Hunt, Jamie (Johnny) Delahunt, Robert (Kristina) Delahunt, and Courtney (Chris) Dryer; grandchildren, Brody, Isabella, Cooper, Carter, Nicholas, Jacob, Hannah, Alex, Logan, Titan, Gabby, Hailie, Jayden, Madyson, Aaliyah, Emily, and Mason. He is also survived by his sister, Susan (Gary) Halstead; brother, Russell (Mary Ann) Wenger; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Charlie was born September 28, 1954 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Paul and Marie (Forrest) Wenger and grew up on the family farm south of Coggon. He graduated from North Linn High School in 1972. Charlie had worked at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids since 1999. He married Jeanne Smock on December 12, 2009 in Cedar Rapids. Charlie battled cancer for over 10 years. He loved riding his Harley, golfing at Hart Ridge golf course in Manchester, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Charlie’s memory.
