Dale E. Walton

Dale E. Walton, 78, of 2525 Lori Dr. SW, died Monday, April 17, 2006, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2006 at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service by Rev. Rick Gail. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in the Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Walton of Cedar Rapids; four children, Michael (Lisa) Walton, Kathy (Michael) Knight, Brenda (Jay) Owens and Montelle Walton, all of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Nicholas J. Walton, Brandon Knight, Heather Knight, Ryan Knight, Amber Owens and Dale Owens; two great-grandsons, Caleb M. Knight and Kyle J. Walton; a brother, Orval Walton of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Jeanette Owens of Marshalltown.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hazel and Bernice; and an infant brother, Joy.
Dale was born September 17, 1927, in Lucas County, the son of Frank and Bessie (Parr) Walton. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On April 18, 1951, Dale was united in marriage to Vera Harrington in Centerville. Dale worked as a welder for Lattner Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1977.
Dale fought a courageous battle. He enjoyed restoring lawn mowers and especially loved spending time with his family. Military rites by V.F.W. Post #788. A memorial fund has been established.
