Darlene M. Spore, 68, of Vinton, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at the Lutheran Home for the Aged, Vinton, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, by Rev. Larry Schmidt of the Vinton Lutheran Home. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 26, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, Troy Mills, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Thomas Spore and John Spore both of Cedar Rapids and Charlene Hoff of Vinton; step children, Jack Spore of Scotchgrove, Iowa and Bertram Spore, Jr. of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Dudley of Marion.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bertram; and siblings, Marie Annis, Vernon Dudley, Arthur Dudley and LeRoy Dudley.
Darlene was born November 16, 1940, in Central City, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Effie (Bailey) Dudley. On February 8, 1965, she was united in marriage to Bertram Spore, Sr.
Darlene worked as a CNA, was a former Boy Scout leader and later a Girl Scout leader for her granddaughters.
A memorial fund has been established in Darlene’s memory.
