David Christian

David W. Christian, 69, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa peacefully passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids. A reception will follow from 2 – 4 p.m.

Dave was born on October 12, 1956, to C. William and Zona (Walters) Christian in Norfolk, NE. Aside from a short time living in Vermillion, SD, Norfolk was a cherished home base full of family, friends and fun memories. Driving around town, Dave could recant where his friends lived, what their parents did, where things happened, etc. His memory was so admirable. He loved and appreciated the people in his life, and we will all miss him greatly.

After graduating from Norfolk High in 1974, he received his associates degree at Northeast Tech in Norfolk, his Bachelor’s at Kearney State College in Kearney, NE in 1978 and his Master’s degree at Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA in 1980. Various employment opportunities took him to Denver, CO, Columbus and Lincoln, NE. Then in 1989, he went to work for Rockwell in Coralville, IA as an Inventory Coordinator. In 1995 he moved to the Cedar Rapids, IA location and took a position in contracts where his final position was Principal Primary Contract Manager until his retirement in 2019.

In 1990, Dave met his beloved wife Wendy at work. They married on May 2, 1992, and had a family including son, Casey and daughter, Alyssa. What a proud father he was of these two. Dave was a former member of the Ex Club and spent many years in the Rockwell golf league. In his retirement he had many interests and always had something to say about the market. In the summer you could find him out in the yard patiently picking weeds for hours and speeding around on his riding mower. Dave loved traveling and had been to many different countries over the years where Italy was a favorite as he loved art museums. He completed his goal of visiting all 50 states with a trip to Alaska in 2025.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Zona and C. William Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy Christian; son, Casey (Kelsey) Christian of Marengo, IA; daughter, Alyssa (Duncan) Turnbull of Laramie, WY; stepmother, Carol Christian of Norfolk, NE; sister, Anne (Rob) House of Omaha, NE; brother, Bill (Janet) Christian of Norfolk, NE; brother, Robert (Laurie) Christian of Cedar Rapids, IA; and many loved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
