David Lee Tesdahl

David Lee Tesdahl, 78, of Marion, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

David was born on May 20, 1947, in Boone, Iowa, the son of David and Virginia (Clark) Tesdahl. He was a graduate of Iowa City High School and went on to obtain his associate’s degree from Orange Coast College. David then served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, until 1971. On October 25, 1997, David was united in marriage to Catherine Marie Madden in Cedar Rapids. David retired from Nordstrom Direct, where he was a processor in the Fulfillment Center.

A man of deep faith and unwavering pride in his Norwegian heritage, David’s life was marked by devotion to God and a commitment to living His values. David found great joy in reading the Bible, immersing himself in scripture and exploring its teachings. His spiritual journey was enriched by active participation in numerous Bible studies, including the Bible Study Fellowship.

Beyond his spiritual pursuits, David was an avid fisherman, always sharing his catches with others and the stories he would tell. His downtime often included watching his favorite sports on television, collecting movies, and staying informed by watching the local and national news. He was honored to be a part of the local Honor Flight, an experience that he will cherish forever.

David’s last travel was with his friend, Larry, to the Arc Encounter and Museum of the Bible. He also had the opportunity to meet Mike Huckabee and attended his show. He enjoyed his trip immensely and talked about it for a long time. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

David is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 28 years, Catherine Tesdahl; sister, Suzetta Miller of Hawkeye, Iowa; one nephew, Talon; one great niece, Hannah; and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
