David G. Siekierka
March 11, 1959 — May 17, 2006
David G. Siekierka, 47, a resident of Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois, died, Wednesday, May 17, 2006, following complications of cancer. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church, Hiawatha, by Father Neal Manternach. The family will greet friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a rosary service begins at 4:00 p.m. and a scripture service will begin at 5 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his mother, Irene Molinoski Siekierka of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Judy (Jeff) Swick and Diane Siekierka, all of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Richard (Jean) Siekierka of Colorado; and his nieces and nephews, Danielle and Kelsey Grant, Keri and Kimberly Siekierka, Brittany Swick, Ryan Grant, Chris Swick and Josh Swick.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence; and a brother, Donald.
David was born March 11, 1959, in Dubuque, Iowa. He was the son of Lawrence and Irene P. Siekierka In 1978, he joined the United States Marines. A carpenter, David was a happy go lucky person. Everyone was his friend. If you need help, he was always there to help. David will be greatly missed by all who knew him. David enjoyed baseball, camping, fishing and craft work.
