David Jess Stone

David Jess Stone, 83, of Anamosa, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026, at the Apostolic Assembly Church, located at 9527 US 151 in Anamosa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

David was born on December 22, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Jess and Mavis (Fuller) Stone. He was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School. On July 27, 1996, David was united in marriage to Cynthia Suzanne Britton at Spirit Lake. For many years, David worked as the City Planner for the city of Cedar Rapids, until his retirement in 1996.

He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Green Bay Packers fan. David’s favorite pastime was going antiquing and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

David is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Cynthia Britton; children, Cory (Sandra) Stone of Los Angeles, California, and Tom Stone of Cedar Rapids; and siblings, Larry (Pam) Stone of Iowa, and Nancy (Roy) Swallom of Williston, North Dakota. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Debra Stone.
