Debra “Debby” Diane Odean, 73, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on November 10, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with a one-hour visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

Debby was born on July 13, 1952, in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of James and JoAnn (Vicks) Burns. She attended Regis High School in Cedar Rapids. On August 1, 1970, Debby was united in marriage to Alan Odean. Together they had three daughters. Later they divorced. Debra was a dedicated member of her community, making a substantial impact through her various work engagements, including notable positions at the Iowa Department of Human Services, Milestones Adult Day Care, the Willow Gardens Care Center, and the Caring Corner at Marion Methodist Church. She also shared her warmth and hospitality as a waitress for many years at Country Kitchen. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Debra was honored to receive the Iowa Governor's Volunteer Award, recognizing her unwavering commitment to her community and her efforts to uplift those around her.

Beyond her professional life, Debra found joy in a multitude of hobbies and interests. She loved visiting the pool, indulging in her favorite Mexican cuisine, diving into a good book, especially true crime, and tuning into episodes of CSI on television. A simple yet delightful pleasure for her was popping bubble wrap, which never failed to bring a smile to her face. Debra is remembered for her vibrant spirit and the kindness she extended to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment to her community, along with cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Debby is survived and lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Amy (Jon) Eastman of Cedar Rapids, and Angela Odean of Marion; five grandchildren, Lasondra Odean, Connor Grade (Shelby Vanous), Chase Grade, Emma Eastman, and Mason Eastman; her mother, Jo Burns of Marion; siblings, Robert Burns of Marion, Marc Burns of Dallas, Texas, Terri Burns of Marion, Lori Burns of Cedar Rapids, and Michele (Tim) Good of Cedar Rapids; niece, Aleah (Mark) Longner of Cedar Rapids; and great niece and nephew, Alexa and Riley Longner.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Burns; daughter, Christy Odean; granddaughter, Latisha Odean; and former husband, Alan Odean.
