Denis Ray Hildebrand

Denis Ray Hildebrand, 68, of 102 19th Street NW, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, in his home, following a long illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, Garry (Ruthie) Wagner and Bob (Lynn) Wagner, both of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Missy, Kazzy, Josh, Andrew and Candace Wagner; a special great-granddaughter, Malaya McNamara; two brothers, Howard Hildebrand of West Union, Iowa, and Doyle (Dorene) Hildebrand of Chillicothe, Missouri; and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Linus Jr., Dale and Earl; and a daughter, Marcia Amend.
Denis was born February 14, 1939, the son of Linus and Viola (Boeckenstedt) Hildebrand, in Volga, Iowa. He farmed, worked with Hawkeye Rubber and retired from the City of Cedar Rapids in the Sanitation Department. Denis loved tinkering, fixing and repairing cars and tractors and gambling.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Denis.
