Dennis Duane Fischer

Dennis Duane Fischer, 83, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Dennis’ Life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion.

Dennis was born November 5, 1942, near McGregor, Iowa, to Earl and Marie (Breitsprecher) Fischer. He graduated from Garnavillo High School in 1960. Dennis married Marcia Gritton on May 1, 1976, in Clarence, Iowa.

Dennis spent his working career in the insurance field, most recently as a field representative, traveling the entire state of Iowa. Dennis and Marcia spent 50 wonderful years together and enjoyed 40 years fishing in northern Minnesota. They enjoyed antiquing together.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Marcia; three children, Heidi (Charles) Brown of Cary, Illinois, Jeffrey (Denise) Fischer of Cedar Rapids, and Holly (Matt) Moppin of Potter, Kansas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene Fischer, Larry (Pam) Fischer, and Roger (Barb) Gritton; and sisters-in-law, Mary Fischer and Diane Evens.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earl Jr.; sister-in-law, Karen Blake; and brother-in-law, Jerry Evens.

Dennis’ family would like to thank Mercy hospice for their care and compassion in his final days.
