Dennis John Fordice, 59, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at his home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Shueyville United Methodist Church in Shueyville, Iowa, with Rev. Brody Tubaugh officiating. Additionally, a Celebration of Life is scheduled at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the church with inurnment to follow at Shueyville Cemetery with full military honors.
John was born on July 20, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of James Kennison and Beulah Christine (Hampton) Fordice. He served honorably in the United States Army and the Marine Corps. John worked as an industrial painter and stage tech for Christian Rock Festivals. He was a devout Christian. John loved music and playing drums. He was a talented woodworker. Spending time with his family and grandchildren was what he enjoyed most. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived and lovingly remembered by his children, Teona (Lee McMaster) Harmon of Aledo, Illinois, Brooke (Jeremy) Maish of Aledo, and Nickolaus (Victoria) Fordice of Silver Point, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Draven Harmon, Cyrus McMaster, Rylee, Kaelyn, Adalyn, and Brynlee Huston, Tyler, Alana, and Ivey Fordice; siblings, Jim (Susan) Fordice of Houston, Texas, Joyce Stigers of Lexington, Kentucky, Nonie (Joe) Crumly of Grandview, Iowa, Bill (Deb) Fordice of Iowa City, and Deborah Hampton of Milton, Florida; sister-in-law, Bonnie Fordice of Letts, Iowa; brother-in-law, Larry Scofield of Stone City, Iowa; special friend, Dana Fordice of Walling, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tyler Fordice; sister, Sheryl Scofield; brother, Richard Fordice; brother-in-law, Jerry Stigers; and a nephew, Donald Tyler.
