DENNY C. MEYER, 60, of 218 Elizabeth Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, December 22, 2005, in his home following a long illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Conducted by: Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Denny was born July 5, 1945, in Postville, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Norma (Johnson) Meyer. In 1963, he graduated from Prairie High School. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years and worked for 31 years for ADM in boiler maintenance. Denny enjoyed gardening, gambling, puzzles, and taking care of his cars. He collected wolf and deer pictures, enjoyed watching sports on television, NASCAR, and spending time with his dog Lacey.
Survivors include his mother, Norma; two daughters, Dixie (Steve) Pineda of Portage, Indiana and Debra (Chad) Dzierba of Valparaiso, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Dakota Pineda, Julian Gonzalez, Ashley, Kristina, and Lyndie Walton, and Sarah and Chad Dzierba; and his aunt, Irene Feickert of Postville, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard; a sister Dixie Meyer; and a son-in-law, Douglas A. Pineda.
