With humble gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we remember Diane Connor, born on September 2, 1936—a devoted follower of Jesus, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, and a beacon of joy to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Diane’s faith in Christ was the foundation of her life, inspiring her to serve others tirelessly through her church, local organizations, and countless visits to care centers and homes. Her compassion and willingness to help were felt deeply by everyone she met.

Diane’s greatest devotion was to her family. She cherished her beloved daughter, Wendy, her only surviving family member, and adored her son-in-law, Ron. With her signature wit, Diane lovingly called Ron “annoying”—a playful nod to an inside joke.

Diane was deeply proud of her grandchildren, Emily is completing her PM&R residency, Andrew is pursuing his medical degree and both carrying forward her legacy of caring for others. Her heart was full as she celebrated Andrew’s marriage to Casey this year, and she delighted in thoughtful conversations with Anthony, Emily’s partner, never missing a chance to share her wisdom.

Family gatherings were never complete without a game of Yahtzee, and Diane’s joy was infectious—her final victory in a game with Wendy is a treasured memory. Birthdays meant cherished boat rides, always ending with a trip to an ice cream shop, where Diane’s laughter was as abundant as the ice cream she inevitably wore home.

Diane was the proudest supporter of Wendy and Ron’s business, Petland Iowa City, sharing her pride with everyone she met. She was also passionate about the tours she gave years ago at the Granger House in Marion, Iowa, one of her favorite volunteer activities.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hiawatha Care Center, whose nurses and aides showed Diane exceptional kindness and care. Their compassion brought comfort and joy to Diane and her family.

Diane’s days were marked by joy and gratitude, and her presence brought happiness to all around her. Her devotion to Bible study was unwavering, and she eagerly sought God’s guidance each day. Her favorite verse, Micah 6:8, captures her spirit: “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”

Diane is survived by her loving daughter, Wendy (Ron) Solsrud, her cherished granddaughters, Dr. Emily Solsrud, Summer Connor, and Brittany Connor, and her beloved grandsons, Andrew (Casey) Solsrud, Damian Connor, and Brandon Connor.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Scott Connor and Chris Connor, her father, Daniel Olsta, and mother, Ethel Gottschalk.

A graveside service will be held in Chicago at Irving Park Cemetery to honor and celebrate Diane’s life and faith.

Diane Connor’s legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
