Dixie A Twiselton

Dixie Anne Twiselton, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Northbrook Care Center, after fighting her battle with Alzheimer’s. Memorial Service: 12:00 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 11:00 a.m. until service time, Thursday at the funeral home. Burial at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Kelly Sharp of Phoenix, Arizona, Sarah Twiselton of Cedar Rapids and Karl Twiselton; Daughter-in-law, Cindy Twiselton; four grandchildren, Lenny Sharp, Matthew Sharp, Jennifer Espinal and Joshua Twiselton; six great grandchildren; three nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bernell “Bernie” Twiselton; son Kevin Twiselton; parents, Carl and Nellie Peterson; sister Sandra Sevening, brother John Peterson and son-in-law, Leonard Sharp.
Dixie was born January 31, 1933 to Carl and Nellie (Burlingham) Peterson. She attended Franklin High School, Cedar Rapids. On October 12, 1957, Dixie married Bernie Twiselton. She worked as a bookkeeper for Turner Microphone (Conrac Corporation), Bezanson, Whitehead Insurance and Millhiser Smith Insurance. Retiring in 1998, Dixie took time to enjoy reading, crafting, bird watching, gardening, and an occasional margarita. She also enjoyed being around her grand dogs.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
