Dolores E. Villers, 88, of 347 25th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, February 8, 2010, in her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 12, 2010, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Tom McDermott. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City.
Survivors include her children, Nora (David) Johnson of North Liberty and Kevin Villers of New York; grandchildren, Jessica (Chris Greene) Johnson, Jennifer (Dennis) Christie, Ben Johnson and Helena Villers; great grandchildren, Olivia Christie and Elizabeth Greene; and a sister, Mercedes Meaney of Waterloo.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, H.C.; parents; son, Stephen Villers; daughter, Rebecca Villers; brothers, Edward Murphy, John Murphy, Linus Murphy and Thomas Murphy; and a sister, Mary Eloise Murphy.
Born September 23, 1921, in Dike, Iowa, Dolores was the daughter of John and Mae (Connell) Murphy. On January 24, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she was united in marriage to H.C. Villers. For 35 years she taught first grade in the College Community School District.
